floppy hat

I finished my floppy hat yesterday. It was a simple hat that should have taken me a couple days, but I worked on it quite spurratically, so two days turned into, um...a month. I was so excited to finally have a finished object, that when I got home from the gym today I immediately decided to take some pictures of myself! Oh, brother. What a dumb idea. I blame the endorphins. So you're only getting one photo, the cream of the crop...red face, braids, and all. Yikes. But the hat, at least, is kinda cute. And if we ever get some decent snow (don't yell at me, you snow-haters) this floppy hat will be perfect for snowshoeing! The Malabrigo Worsted is nice and soft and warm and I knit about 9" before decreasing for the crown, so the hat definitely covers my ears. I used size 8's and cast on 100 stitches, but I probably should have used about 88. I think I would have preferred it to fit just a bit snugger, but at least there will be lower risk of Hat Head this way. Thanks to Leslie for the inspiration!

Oh, and Kristen, Hilary, Jane, and Mary said I made their day! :) Aw, shucks! Thank you! I'm supposed to name ten bloggers, but I'm going to give you six, and count the knitters who tagged me as my other four, because they make my day, too! Although most of these ladies have already been tagged, my floppy hat is off to:

not dead, but not really knitting.

Yikes, it's been a long time since I posted! I knew it was getting bad when Erin asked if I was "dead."

So the craft show went really well---thank you for all your good wishes and a big thank you to everyone who stopped by! The whole Small Bird venture has been wonderful over these past 10 months and continues to get better. It was so nice to get the jewlery out of the online shop and into the real world, in the company of other crafters who are also in love with what they do. Thank you Second Storie}! Here's your virtual tour of the Small Bird table at Spot Coffee...

p.s. Kelly is the best for helping me out. I couldn't have done it without her!

It's like you were really there, huh? :)
As for knitting...right...well, I don't have much to show. I'm still working on that Malabrigo hat, and it's nearly finished, but lately I've been picking up Patti every time I get a few minutes to knit. Patti is also getting close to being done. I have the back, both fronts, and 1.25 sleeves completed. But there's still the collar, button band, and finishing left and I have a feeling that's going to be a little bit of a headache. I should have some time to tackle it next week.
