I caught up on some tv this weekend and finished up the
Utopia Hat for my brother-in-law. The two skeins of Elann Peruvian Sierra Aran I had were more than enough for this pattern, using size 8 needles. I didn't swatch, since I figured the rib and cable pattern would be pretty forgiving, and the size is just right. I would knit this hat again in a heartbeat. The pattern is easy enough to knit while watching tv, but interesting enough that it didn't bore me, but not
SO "interesting" that my mild-mannered brother-in-law wouldn't wear it. :) One Christmas gift down...on to the next!

damn you're fast! it looks great. from the picture i couldn't tell that the cables arced into each other- i love it.
hey, nice hat! looks good in that colour too.
oh wow, that hat is really pretty. i might have to knit one for myself. thanks for the inspiration. :)
Nice pattern, and love the color! Yay for Christmas knitting!
That is a great hat! Thanks for the link!
Wow, it looks great! And your description of the pattern is great -- I love things that keep your interest but aren't too involved.
very nice - it looks soft!
Really cute! I think you should knit one for yourself!
the hat looks good on you. Are you sure your BIL needs it? :)
You've got me sold, I think my little brother would appreciate that hat for Christmas.
it looks so good on you....i want one for ME!
Looks great, love it with the heathered yarn.
you know i really need to work on a hat. i'm sick of sweaters!
I'm impressed. The one year I tried to knit all my gifts was a big failure. The hat is beautiful.
P.S. I'm tagging you. Play along if you like.
What a great pattern! I love it!
Hey Jenna!! Love that hat...I may need to make it for my husband!!!

Love the hat. Loved it so much I had to knit one myself. I used thicker yarn so I ended up reducing the # of cast on stitches to 72 and cut down on the # of cable crossovers. Can't wait to see what other X-mas gifts you're whipping up.
excellent hat! I feel like I've already said this to you(?), but I'm so taken by how the cables migrate into the shapes. Very cool.
